Complete facsimile edition of the Collected Works of Aleister Crowley with portraits, reprinted circa 1970 by Yogi Publication Society.

These books cover Crowley's earliest period of writing, before The Book of the Law had fully reshaped his philosophy, and include poetry, plays, essays, and the first outlines of his magical thought.

The contents are as follows:

Volume I (1905)

  • Mostly literary works written in his twenties.

  • Includes Aceldama, Jezebel, Songs of the Spirit, The Tale of Archais, and other early poems.

  • Some short essays and aphorisms.

  • Strongly influenced by Romantic and Decadent literature, with mystical overtones but not yet overtly Thelemic.

Volume II (1906)

  • More ambitious poetic works: Oracles, Mysteries, The Fatal Force, Tannhäuser: A Story of All Time.

  • Includes The Soul of Osiris, showing Crowley’s deepening engagement with Egyptian motifs and esoteric religion.

  • A mix of verse drama, longer poems, and philosophical poetry.

Volume III (1907)

  • Marks the transition toward occult and magical writing.

  • Contains Carmen Saeculare, Rosa Mundi, Alice: An Adultery, The Mothers, and other plays and poems.

  • Includes early versions of magical and mystical texts such as The Star and the Garter.

  • More direct philosophical commentary, pointing toward his later Thelemic system.

These three volumes are a complete collection of Crowley’s early literary output up to 1907—mostly poetry and verse drama, with touches of mysticism. They are less about practical magic or Thelema (which came to the forefront after 1904 and especially in The Equinox) and more about Crowley the poet, classicist, and aspiring prophet of a new religious vision.
