Aleister Crowley’s The Equinox Vol. III No. 1 in excellent condition. One of 1,000 published by Weiser 1995 in their reprint of the 1929 original text.
Nicknamed The Blue Equinox because of its blue cover, it represents a major shift in the series: it ceased being just a periodical of occult essays and rituals, and became the official “Yearbook” of the O.T.O. and A∴A∴ under Crowley’s direction.
Its contents include:
Introductory Material: Announcements of the aims of the O.T.O. and A∴A∴, their structure, and Crowley’s role as leader. It openly presents Crowley as “The World Teacher” or prophet of the New Aeon of Horus.
Key Texts of Thelema:
The Book of the Law (Liber AL vel Legis).
The Law of Liberty (Liber DCCCXXXVII), a commentary and exposition of Thelema.
Liber Porta Lucis (Liber X), outlining the doctrine of the A∴A∴.
Liber LXI vel Causae, a history and mission statement of the A∴A∴.
Rituals & Ceremonial Texts:
Liber XV: Ecclesiæ Gnosticæ Catholicæ Canon Missæ (the Gnostic Mass), the central public ritual of Thelema.
Initiatory material and outlines of O.T.O. degrees.
Commentaries & Essays:
Expositions of the New Aeon and Thelema’s philosophy.
Practical guidance on the work of the aspirant.
Political and social writings in which Crowley connects Thelema to wider world issues.
Administrative Matter: Membership details, contact information, and outlines of the duties and obligations of members in both the O.T.O. and A∴A∴.
The Blue Equinox functions both as a public manifesto and handbook for Thelema’s institutions, and as a ritual/theological treasury containing The Book of the Law, the Gnostic Mass, and foundational documents of the Orders.
